Scotch Lake Road is a great place for a Sunday afternoon
drive, stop along the side of the road and visit Howland Falls. Scotch Lake
Road is home to many animals such as White Tailed Deer, Black Bears, Wild Hare
and the Beaver just to mention a few.
The woods on Scotch Lake Road are also home to a large variety of birds
so it is a perfect location for bird watching.
With fishing season being open this would be a great place to visit and relax with a fishing pole in your hand.
Bring along your canoe and go for nice relaxing paddle on the natures beauty! (once the ice has melted that is)
To see this waterfall, drive about 1 km up the Scotch Lake Road in Bear Island. Just before the bridge you will find a place to park on the left. The trail is pretty obvious on the opposite side of the road facing back from the bridge. Its not a bad trail, but has a pretty good slope near the bottom. People often use this Falls for a swimming place in the summer time.
